Classes

Class Attire...
All dancers will present a classic appearance that is appropriate & conservative while allowing personal comfort. The instructors want to clearly see the beautiful lines of our dancers & not be distracted by their apparel.
All leotards must be simply styled with no fancy straps, attached skirts, appliqués, or ornamentation.
Ballet
Females: All classes pink tights & pink ballet shoes.
Creative Movement & Pre-Ballet - pink leotard
Ballet I - white leotard
Ballet II - light blue leotard
Ballet III - royal blue leotard
Ballet IV - red leotard
Ballet V through Advanced Ballet - black leotard
Males: All classes white or black ballet shoes.
Any color leotard or t-shirt.
Gym shorts, black jazz pants or black tights.
Jazz, Modern & Contemporary
Any solid color leotard
Any solid color stirrups, footless tights or black jazz pants
Jazz II & up - tan jazz shoes preferred
Jazz sneakers must be approved by instructor.
Modern & Contemporary - bare feet, bring a pair of socks
Hip Hop
Jazz or clean sneakers
Appropriate dance attire. Instructor will discuss specifics at the first class.

Tap
Do not buy tap shoes before the first class.
SSD may have a pair that you can borrow.
Children's Division ...
Creative Movement
Introduces children of 3 1/2-5 years of age to basic ballet concepts, gentle stretching and locomotor movements. Students discover how their bodies can move, create their own dances and learn to respond to music & rhythm.
Pre Ballet
Must be kindergarten age. Along with creative movement, students focus a little more on ballet concepts, positions, and early ballet steps.
Ballet
The foundation for all other dance forms offers disciplined training in classical ballet style, technique & vocabulary with emphasis on correct body alignment & proper use of weight-bearing muscles & joints.
Ballet 1
0-1 years of training.
Ballet II
1-2 years of training.
Ballet III
2-3 years of training.
Ballet V
4-5 years of training.
Ballet VI
5-6 years of training.
Beginner Ballet
This class is for older students 9-12 who are beginning ballet.
Jazz
The Giordano technique with emphasis on rhythm, coordination, fast movement, composition, strength & style.
Jazz II
2-3 years of training. MUST take minimum of one ballet class per week.
Jazz III
4-5 years of training. MUST take minimum of one ballet class per week.
Hip Hop
Movement that has elements of poppin', lockin' & breakin' as well as free style movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style.
Children's Beginning
0-1 years of training. Ages 7-12.
Children's Intermediate
3-4 years of training.
Tap
Focus is placed on the study of broadway-style & rhythmic tap. Tap develops rhythm, balance, strength & a dancer's versatility and has many physiological as well as cognitive benefits.
Children's Beginner
0-1 years of training. Ages 7-12.
Children's Continuing
1-2 years of training.
Children's Tap III
3-4 years of training.
