Classes

Creative Movement
An introduction to dance for 3 & 4 year olds. This class teaches foundational concepts as well as dance studio etiquette. Students explore movement in a structured, safe environment. The class will help the student achieve better coordination, flexibility, balance, & self-confidence. The dance year culminates with an in-studio demonstration for families.
Ballet

The foundation for all other dance forms offers disciplined training in classical ballet style, technique & vocabulary with emphasis on correct body alignment & proper use of weight-bearing muscles & joints.

​Jazz 

The Giordano technique with emphasis on rhythm, coordination, fast movement, composition, strength & style.

Hip Hop

Movement that has elements of poppin', lockin' & breakin' as well as free style movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style.

Modern

An asymmetrical form of ballet which stresses the torso as the source of movement with emphasis on creative improvisations, locomotor movement & imaginative exploration of the body in space.

Tap

Focus is placed on the study of broadway-style & rhythmic tap. Tap develops rhythm, balance, strength & a dancer's versatility and has many physiological as well as cognitive benefits.

Contemporary

A style of interpretive dance that embraces innovation, blending techniques from various genres.

Stott Pilates®

An exercise that improves core strength and balances the muscles around to joints, improving the way your body functions, looks and feels.

Zena Rommett Floor-Barre®

A ballet based technique that incorporates anatomical principles of alignment to center, lengthen, & strengthen the muscles & joints of the body. Using the floor & eliminating the pressure of gravity, Floor-Barre® gently corrects placement, sculpting the body & creating long, exquisite lines. Used by both dancers & non-dancers, as well as athletes, it is used for injury prevention, rehabilitation, & developing correct anatomical placement. Whether starting off in your performance career, seeking to extend your career, or simply looking for a way to properly align and strengthen your body for your own personal well-being, Floor-Barre® is a highly effective Technique that is taught & respected around the world.

 

Cancellation of Classes:  The school reserves the right to cancel a class at any time if enrollment falls below four students. Currently enrolled students will be placed in a new class or given a refund for the remaining classes.

Credits & Make Up Classes:  Credits can only be used by the enrolled student & only in the form of make-up classes.  Make-up classes cannot be carried into the summer session or be used for tuition credit.

Snow Day Policy:  The decision for class cancellation will be made by 2:00 pm (if possible) & listed on all major TV stations. When in doubt, call BDC's office at (315) 446-6600. If there is a cancellation, there will be a message. Please do not call your teacher.

Refunds:  For medical reasons ONLY; must have written verification from doctor within two weeks of injury. No refunds given for sports or school musical conflicts.

Class Cards:  Ten classes for $150

Trial Class:  $15

Drop In Policy for BDC College Students:  During college fall, winter & spring breaks, you are welcome to attend classes for $10 per class. If you want to take more than two classes per break, a pro-rated tuition will be applied. Call (315) 446-6600or email info@theballetanddancecenter.com
